Amanda Brugel

(February 27th, 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal known as the West Island. The West Island has a lot of diverse communities. People who have never been aware of it frequently think it is an island that is west-facing. Amanda Brugel grew up on the West Island, and it is frequently referred to as her birthplace. However, she only stayed there for a short time. Brugel developed on Courtice located just outside Oshawa within Ontario. She aspired to be a professional dancer, but because of a huge growth spurt she outgrew all of her dancing partners. The article she wrote about her experience revealed that was published in the Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As soon as I outgrew my male counterparts and stopped dancing, I quit. Some former dancers switch into acting. In Brugel's case it was a nudge from the drama instructor at her high school which led her in the right direction. The teacher was the one who advised her to audition as Anne in the school's annual production. After trying out her options, she was eventually the lead actress in Anne of Green Gables. It led to an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the last twenty years, Brugel's work been featured on both the large and small screen. Her work gained most recognition when she landed her role as Rita on the award-winning TV show The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel made an appearance on only a handful of instances in the initial season of the series The Handmaid's tale. The only Canadian member.
